May 18, 2026 – C-MAP®, a leader in digital marine cartography, today announced the launch of a new Seabed Layer for Europe. Available across DISCOVER®, REVEAL®, and X Generation charts, this feature gives boaters and anglers unprecedented clarity on what lies beneath the surface.
By categorizing the seafloor into eight distinct, color-coded layers ranging from sand and rock to coral and seagrass – the Seabed Layer allows users to pinpoint the perfect habitat for their target catch or identify secure, eco-friendly anchoring spots. The overlay integrates seamlessly with existing C-MAP charts and can be toggled on or off with a single touch.
"The Seabed Layer is about confidence," said Jakob Svensson, C-MAP Product Manager. "Whether you are a professional angler seeking a specific bottom type or a cruiser looking to protect sensitive habitats, this update provides the critical data needed to make informed decisions on the water."
Availability & Compatibility:
- X Generation Charts: Available from May 2026 for European coastal waters. Users can update via the X Chart Manager (requires NEON 2.5 software or higher).
- DISCOVER & REVEAL Charts: Expected rollout in June 2026.
- Eligibility: The update is free for new users and existing customers with an active C-MAP subscription who purchased their chart within the last 12 months.
